NBA Odds: Betting the Finals MVP

Before you bet on Bodog’s NBA Finals props on who you think the NBA Finals MVP will be, you first must decide which team you think will win the series between the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics.
There has never been a Finals MVP from a losing team, so don’t waste your money there. For what it’s worth, the Lakers and Celtics split two games in the regular season, with each team winning on the other’s home court by a point.
As one would expect, Kobe Bryant is the overwhelming Bodog favorite to win Finals MVP at 4/7 – he is the reigning Finals MVP after leading the Lakers over the Magic last season. Bryant seems to be playing better than he has all season, averaging 29.4 points, 6.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game in the postseason. He had a few bad games in Round 1 against the Thunder but has been unstoppable since having his knee drained. Kobe only played in the game in Boston this season, scoring just 19 points but hitting the game-winning shot. He was injured when the Celtics visited L.A.
The Finals MVP when these two teams met back in 2008 was Boston’s Paul Pierce, and he is the third-favorite on Bodog’s NBA odds (behind teammate Rajon Rondo) at 5/1. Pierce struggled in Round 2 against the Cavs because he had to guard LeBron James, but he was terrific in the conference finals against the Magic. Pierce averaged just 13.0 points in the two games against L.A. during the season. Rondo is at 5/2 and he figures to have his way with Laker point guard Derek Fisher. However, Rondo is a bit beaten up and his play tailed off a bit at the end of the Magic series.
